The Owner/Pilates Instructors at Kinesia Pilates in Downtown Seattle are second-generation teachers of Romana's Pilates, certified to teach after 600+ hours of apprenticeship by Grand Master Romana Kryzanowska or one of her internationally recognized teacher of teachers. Our staff teachers are picked for their commitment to the integrity of Pilates systems, their body-wisdom and a good sense of humor... We like to think of it as recess for grown-ups, put your worries aside for an hour and concentrate on doing something good for yourself!

Christl Marcontell

My aim is to empower every student in their quest for physical mastery, following the philosophy of Joseph Pilates that “the spirit guides the body”.

I first encountered Pilates as a way to regain core strength for aerial dance after pregnancy. It's been over 15 years and I remain fascinated and challenged by the method and philosophy of Joe Pilates.

In addition to Pilates I have trained and performed contemporary dance and dance theater in Seattle, learning somatic and developmental movement sequences in dance training. Some of the most common techniques drawn from Laban, Feldenkrais, Alexander, and Skinner Releasing. I have found these patterns useful in training new mind/body connections with clients who have chronic pain or who are looking for a break-through from poor postural habits.

Gay Marcontell

I like to work with people. I enjoy the one on one relationship that is possible when we are tuned in together, and I like to see that people leave their workout with a good feeling about themselves.

In training people who are serious about taking care of their bodies I see that a necessary adjunct to Pilates and Body/Mind training is Nutrition. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I find that the pairing establishes a more complete way to promote a sense of well-being and weight management, generate sustainable energy and create a healing environment within.

Jordan Colvard

I began training as a dancer 11 years ago and graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a BFA in Dance in 2011. For the past three years I have been performing with local dance companies and teaching dance to children and adults. I started practicing Pilates 8 years ago as cross-training and injury prevention for dance, and have been hooked ever since.
